Coolio To Perform In Tri-Cities

With his unique hairdo (hair braids sticking out in various directions), Coolio was to be recognized as one of the most accomplished and influential Rap Stars of our time!  He is known for being one of the rappers that help cross over hardcore hip-hop into the music mainstream community.

Peaking at #8 on the Billboard Hot 200 and being certified Platinum, Coolio became a legitimate rap star with his debut solo album, "It Takes a Thief".  His music had a different approach than the typical rap star; he put a spin to his music and lyrics by adding some humor to the what normally would be profane and violent.

His signature song "Gangsta's Paradise" made for the movie "Dangerous Minds", made it to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 3 weeks.  And at the 1996 Grammy Awards, Coolio took home a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance with this song.
